Poster Invitation

Food industry professionals and students involved in research dealing with food microbiology and rapid testing methods are invited to prepare a technical poster for presentation. Abstracts of posters will be included in the conference manual. The deadline for submission of the abstract is September 4, 2009.

All poster presenters must be registered for the event.

Poster Specifications

  • Each poster should have a heading that includes the title, author(s) and their affiliation(s).

  • The poster should have the same components as a technical/scientific paper: an Abstract (as previously submitted), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and finally a Conclusion. Each of these sections in your poster should be titled accordingly so viewers can easily find them.

  • The text should be of a size that can be easily read from a distance of 3-4 ft.

  • Results are best conveyed using figures, graphs, or photographs. Tables are usually not the best method for presenting data.

  • Poster presentation space is limited. The assigned space for each poster will be 5' wide by 4' high.

  • Excessively large posters can be difficult to mount and keep mounted. If they have been rolled for transport the edges tend to curl and not lay flat when mounted on the board.

  • Facilities for the preparation of poster will not be available at the conference site. We will have an assortment of thumbtacks, pins, clips and tape available for mounting the posters.

  • There is no scheduled poster session. Posters will be on display at the conference site (the Ballroom in the University Center) for the duration of the program. Attendees will be able to view them before the morning sessions, during breaks, and over the lunch hour.

  • Posters should be mounted before the session starts on Monday, October 19th and removed at the conclusion of the program, 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st.

  • Posters will be accepted for presentation on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited. Abstracts are due by September 4, 2009. Abstracts should include the title, author(s), their affiliation(s) and a brief summary of the research.

  • Abstracts may be e-mailed to foodmicro@uwrf.edu, faxed to (715) 425-3472 c/o Doreen Cegielski or mailed to:
