Falcons Raise $4,147 in Dig For the Cure MatchNov. 6, 2009The Falcon volleyball team raised $4,147 in its Dig For the Cure match against UW-Stevens Point played on Oct. 3. Individuals pledged dollar amounts for every dig the Falcons recorded in the match. The Falcons had 35 digs in the three set win. Individuals could also donate a specific dollar amount. “Dig for the Cure” was started in 2003 by University of North Carolina-Charlotte volleyball coach Lisa Marston as a way to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, a national organization that raises money for breast cancer research. Since its inception, “Dig for the Cure” has become a nationwide event, with college conferences throughout the country raising money for their local Susan G. Komen affiliate.
